In order to participate in Makers’ Space, one must have experience using industrial sewing machines. Graduates of the Industrial Sewing Program hosted by The Industrial Commons automatically qualify. For those who are not graduates of the program, you may qualify by passing a quick industrial sewing assessment to demonstrate your experience.

For just $30 per 3-hour time slot, you can use the Industrial Sewing Lab to bring your ideas to life!
The Makers’ Space offers two 3-hour time slots to choose from: 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm. You pick the one that works best for you, or plan to craft the whole day!

The Industrial Sewing Assessment is done using an Industrial Single Needle machine. Participants will need to demonstrate safe operation of the machine while changing a needle and completing three (3) sewing projects on paper. Closed-toed shoes are required. One hour is allotted for paperwork and the assessment.
To sign up for the Industrial Sewing Assessment, email isp@theindustrialcommons.org and a team member will be in touch to coordinate.
If the thought of a sewing assessment is overwhelming and you prefer to brush up on your skills by taking the Industrial Sewing Program, we have multiple opportunities throughout the year. This beginner level Industrial Sewing Program dives into the use of industrial sewing machines and sewing techniques. You can find more information about the classes and how to sign up here.
